Flybe 2017 Baggage Allowance
If you’re travelling with Flybe on an upcoming flight, here’s everything you need to know about your Flybe baggage allowance, restrictions, fees and charges.
Flybe Ticket Types
Flybe offer three different types of tickets. The prices of these tickets will vary depending on your route;
Flybe Hand Baggage
Flybe passengers can carry one standard cabin bag measuring no more than 55 x 35 x 20cm including wheels and handles. You can also take a smaller under seat item such as a laptop or a handbag. Both items must weigh no more than 10kg combined.
If your cabin bag exceeds the dimensions and weight limits, it will be checked in as hold luggage and fees will apply. A £50 charge will be levied for any oversized bag checked in at the departure gate.
If you have a ‘Get More’ or ‘All In’ ticket, without a hold bag already checked in, you may check in an oversized or overweight carry-on bag free of charge (as long as it doesn’t exceed 20kg for ‘Get More’ or 40kg for ‘All In’).
Need to purchase a suitable hand luggage case for your upcoming flight? We recommend this, available on Amazon, as they are approved by most airlines.
Flybe Checked Baggage
Hold luggage fees and allowances will depend on your ticket type. ‘Get More’ passengers receive 20kg checked baggage free of charge, and ‘All In’ customers will receive 40kg. ‘Just Fly’ customers must purchase any hold luggage.
Flybe offers four different sizes of checked baggage to choose from; 15kg for £18.50, 20kg for £19, 23kg for £24 and 40kg split over two bags for £49.
Prices are per person, per one way flight. Passengers are advised to book baggage online, rather that at the airport as it is much cheaper.
Flybe Excess Baggage
Flybe offers the opportunity to pre-book and increase your hold luggage allowance up to 46kg, however should you wish to carry hold luggage in excess of this permitted pre-bookable allowance, excess baggage charges will apply. If your hold baggage exceeds your pre-booked weight allowance, you will be charged a fee of £15 per extra kilogram.
Flybe Special Items
When travelling on a Flybe flight, there are certain ‘exceptional items’ which may be carried free of charge. These include: pushchairs, prams, travel cots, car seats, wedding dress, bridesmaid dress, suit, wedding cake, mobility equipment.
There are also certain exceptional items which can be carried for an additional fee. Items such as sporting equipment and musical instruments will be charged at £30 per item, each way. Each exceptional item placed in hold has a weight allowance of up to 20kg. Should items exceed this allowance, standard excess baggage fees apply. If you intend to travel with an exceptional item, it is advised to contact Flybe prior to booking in case there are specific instructions relating to your item.
Uni Baggage – Airline Baggage Alternative
For those who purchase ‘Get More’ or ‘All In’ tickets with Flybe, hold luggage allowances can be generous. However as these kinds of premium tickets are substantially more expensive, the standard ‘Just Fly’ ticket is most popular.
However, for ‘Just Fly’ tickets, luggage allowances are limited and fees are expensive, making an alternative baggage arrangement, a much more attractive option.
Uni Baggage provides a great low cost alternative to airline baggage, with a low cost, fast and convenient luggage shipping service which allows you to travel hands-free!
Book online and Uni Baggage will collect your luggage and deliver it quickly and safely to where it needs to go. As well as door to door service, Uni Baggage offers luggage tracking, SMS and email notifications. Uni Baggage ships to 200+ countries worldwide.
