EasyJet 2019 Baggage Allowance and Fees
If you’re travelling with easyJet on an upcoming flight, here’s everything you need to know about your easyJet baggage allowance, restrictions, fees and charges.
EasyJet Cabin Baggage
Passengers are permitted to bring one piece of hand luggage as a carry on that will travel with them in the cabin. There are no weight restrictions on this baggage, however it must be 56cm x 45cm x 25cm including handles and wheels.
EasyJet Plus, FLEXI fare, Upfront and Extra Legroom customers can bring an additional small bag (such as a handbag or laptop) at a maximum size of 45cm x 36cm x 20cm and must be placed under the seat in front.
Hand baggage is free. However if it is larger than the size restrictions, the Bag Drop desk will charge you £37 to check the bag into the aircraft hold. If you go straight to the boarding gate and your bag is oversized, you will be charged £47.
Need to purchase a suitable hand luggage case for your upcoming flight? We recommend this, available on Amazon, as they are approved by most airlines.

EasyJet Checked Baggage
Passengers can buy up to three hold bags. A standard hold bag is 23kg, however, you can buy extra weight in 3kg units, up to a maximum of 32kg per bag. No single item can weigh more than 32kg, or exceed the maximum total size of 275cm.
Baggage can be purchased online, over the phone, or at the airport and the price will depend on the route, season, flight and time of booking. Online, prices vary from £13.99-£33.99. At the airport bag drop, you will be charged £37 per hold item weighing up to 23kg. At the boarding gate, you will be charged £47 per hold item weighing up to 23kg.
EasyJet Excess Baggage
If your hold bag exceeds the weight allowance of 23kg, you can pay to increase your allowance up to 32kg; which is the maximum that can be accepted.
The cheapest way to pay for excess baggage is to do so online, where you will be charged £3 per kg, which must be purchased in increments of 3kg. If you pay at the airport, you will be charged £10 per kg, which must be purchased in increments of 3kg.
EasyJet Sporting Equipment and Musical Instruments
Sports Equipment can be checked in as hold luggage, but an additional fee must be paid either online or at the airport. Small sports equipment will cost £35 online or £45 at the airport and large sports equipment will cost £40 online or £50 at the airport.
To take a musical instrument into the cabin, it must be smaller than 30cm x 120cm x 38cm and placed in the overhead locker. A slightly larger musical instrument can be placed in the cabin, however, you will be required to buy a seat for it. For safely reasons, instruments can only be placed in window seats and the maximum height including the case is 110cm. However, if you prefer, you can check it into the hold instead.
Any musical instrument larger than 30cm x 120cm x 38cm will be placed in the hold.
